Inspired by the extraordinary light, rich textures and a culture still in touch with the land- the Spanish region of Andalucia. Feet still have their roots in the raw earth: dry earth coloured as the worn terracotta tiles outside the cortijo door. Rich azure skies of a midwinter's afternoon; the first almonds bursting forth their pink buds; the salt burned grasses along the back of the pebble strewn beaches. Pines and eucalyptus leaves rustling in the morning breeze as the sun creeps over the mountain, fragrant and evocative, crushed underfoot. Washed in the old marble sink, running fresh from the spring; washed and tumbled in the pebbles and salt of the lapping mediterranean; marking, scarring, drawing.
